Stringman: $800 Open-Source Ceiling-Cable Robot Reaches Whole Room
What is Stringman, an $800 open-source room scale gripper robot?
It hangs a gripper from four ceiling-mounted cables and can travel anywhere inside a 7 × 7 × 3 m space. All CAD files, PCBs and control software are open source and run on a local Wi-Fi network without sending data outward.
Who it is for
Makers, labs and small manufacturers can use it to move parts between workstations without buying costly mobile robots.
